In the year 2001 a friend of mine acquired a 1983-build Saab 900S which he used for a little under 2 years. During that time I saw the car fairly often when he visited our house...

I've always had a passing interest in Saab's mostly because of their aircraft-related heritage and when my friend mentioned he was changing jobs, acquiring a new company car, and wanted to sell the Saab 900, I mulled it over for a while then decided to buy it!

That was in early 2003 (incidentally, 10 years after Saab stopped producing C900's!), and since then I've been buying and sourcing parts (primarily through Ebay) and acquiring as much knowledge and experience as I can in order to keep the car running and do as much of the maintenance, etc. as I can myself.

In the first year I owned the car it needed a lot of work. The starter motor failed with a short-circuited armature (one of the windings broke!) which burnt all the wiring back to the auxilliary starting relay. The dash assembly has been disassembled and re-assembled several times to replace switches, repair wiring, and change the speedo when the gearing internal to the gauge for the odomoter failed. Lots of other things have been going on over time and I meet each repair challenge as it arises...

Whilst I always take the car to a qualified tradesperson if I feel that I can't do the work to make repairs when needed, I'm always open to the opportunity to learn how to do things myself! With Saab's being far less common here in Australia than say in the UK or the USA, Saab owners, particularly owners of 'Classic' Saab's (ie. The 99, C900 and 9000 families) can develop and maintain a well-establised community support network by helping each other! That's what this site is about...

There are many well-established Saab and related websites which you will find listed on the links page, but there are no websites focused specifically on the 'Classic' Saabs (ie. The 99, C900 and 9000 families alone. That's a niche that this website is here to fill. Please read our mission and purpose to find out about our aims and goals for this website.

There are a number of different types of discussion forums available which you are most welcome to join! These include the free web-based online forums and the Saab C900 and Saab 9000 mailing lists, etc.. All these facilities are provided so you can share your stories, experiences, technical skills and knowledge, etc. with other 99/C900/9000 enthusiasts!

[ Associated with the site are webrings for Saab C900 enthusiasts and Saab 9000 enthusiasts. ]

An aspect which is sure to appeal to you (even if you're not currently a Saab 99, C900 and/or 9000 owner or enthusiast), is the image galleries (also reachable here). Feel free to register as a gallery member and upload images for inclusion in your galleries if you have classic-Saab-related material to share!

The growing technical library is filled with Classic-Saab-specific technical data and information. If you would like to contribute to material for the technical library, please get in touch!
